Product Description

The red Christmas cactus is a delightful houseplant! Native to the warm, tropical rainforests of Brazil, this charming plant offers vibrant red, pink, or magenta flowers that bloom beautifully in the winter. It’s easy to care for, making it a perfect addition to your home. Here are some tips to help you keep your cactus happy and thriving! This plant features flat, jointed, and segmented stems with lovely rounded or scalloped edges. The flowers are shaped like tubes, with multiple petals that gracefully droop downward. They come in eye-catching shades of magenta or red and bloom at the tips of the stems. After flowering, your cactus will produce small red berries, adding to its charm! Caring for Your Christmas Cactus - Light: Place your cactus in bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight could harm the stems and make them turn a reddish hue. - Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Water it regularly, but during the fall and after it blooms, you can cut back a bit. Just be careful not to let the soil dry out completely; water stress can lead to bud drop, which we want to avoid! - Temperature: Your cactus loves moderate temperatures (around 70−80°F or 21−27°C), but cooler nights (55−60°F or 13−16°C) help it set buds. Try to keep it away from drafts and sudden temperature changes. - Soil: Use a free-draining, humus-rich potting mix. A standard houseplant soil that includes peat or sphagnum moss works great—it’s often better than a regular succulent mix! - Humidity: This plant loves humidity! Consider misting it occasionally or using a humidity tray, especially in dry indoor conditions. - Repotting: Every 2–3 years, give your cactus a little upgrade by repotting it into a slightly larger pot. It’s fine if it becomes a bit root-bound!
